What to do and see in Finale Ligure

Sea, culture and nature – all close to your heart

Finale Ligure is not just a seaside destination: it’s a blend of historic districts, charming villages, landscapes that shift between coastline and hills, hilltop castles and museums that tell stories spanning millennia. It’s a place full of surprises at every step – and we’re here to help you discover it all.

Finalmarina

Finalmarina is the liveliest and most beachy part of Finale Ligure. Here you’ll find an elegant promenade, golden beaches, palm trees framing the seafront, and plenty of spots to enjoy a gelato, an aperitif, or a dinner by the sea.

With shops, historic boutiques and ice cream parlours, the atmosphere is always relaxed but buzzing with life.

Finalborgo

Once enclosed within imposing medieval walls, Finalborgo is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here everything smells of history: you walk on cobbled streets between noble palaces, arches, little squares and towers that tell the story of a rich and fascinating past, still visible today.

Finalpia

More secluded, Finalpia is the district that invites you to slow down and discover at your own pace. It’s known for its historic Benedictine Abbey, still active and welcoming today. From here, trails wind through olive groves, dry stone walls and the scent of Mediterranean scrub – ideal for a peaceful walk through the most authentic side of Liguria.

Varigotti

A dreamy little corner of pastel-coloured houses, narrow alleys and pebble beaches kissed by turquoise water: Varigotti is open-air poetry. You can feel the Saracen soul in every corner, among ancient vibes and postcard-perfect views. And if you’re craving a view that takes your breath away, climb up to the Church of San Lorenzo: from there, the sea seems endless.

Baia dei Saraceni

Close your eyes and imagine the perfect postcard of Liguria – chances are, you’re picturing the Baia dei Saraceni.

A protected stretch of coastline where the sea shifts from turquoise to deep blue. The beach, framed by rocky cliffs and the scent of Mediterranean scrub, is one of the most beautiful along the Riviera. Perfect for those who love untouched nature, true beauty, and a swim that tastes like freedom.

The Tourist Marina

The marina of Finale Ligure is a meeting point between those who arrive by sea and those dreaming of setting sail. From here you can embark on a boat excursion, kayak trip, day of snorkelling or – if you’re lucky – a whale-watching adventure. But even a simple stroll among the boats, soaking in the sea breeze, is a lovely way to enjoy its most peaceful and authentic side.

Castles and fortresses

Finale’s landscape is dotted with castles, ramparts and fortresses – reminders of its strategic and military past, now telling fascinating stories. Among the best known are Castel Gavone, once home to the Del Carretto marquises, and Castel San Giovanni, which towers elegantly above Finalborgo. On the nearby Gottaro hill, just a few kilometres from the hotel, don’t miss the Castelfranco Fortress, offering a breathtaking view of the sea.

Museums of Finale

MAF – the Archaeological Museum of Finale, located in the Santa Caterina monumental complex in Finalborgo, tells the story of the region from prehistoric relics to traces of Ligurian and Roman civilisations. Next to the MAF is the MUDIF – the “Museo Diffuso del Finale, an open-air cultural experience among caves, cliffside settlements, castles and trails that reveal the human and natural history of the territory.

But Finale Ligure doesn’t stop here – if you love sports and outdoor adventures, there’s a world of activities and experiences waiting just for you!
